JHS Photography: Nature

There are so many different venues to photograph, I am often at a loss as to what I want to shoot when I have a moment for pure creativity. I most often turn to nature as I love the colors found in the natural world. Sunrises are especially appealing. The world is asleep, peaceful and quiet. Then the sky brightens, the birds begin to chirp and life stirs.

Flowers have always appealed to me, and I love spending time in my garden - both with my camera and getting my hands dirty!

Welcome

Remembering, Relishing and Rejoicing – these are the elements that have inspired my love affair with photography.

Remembering: It all began when I learned to use a camera to capture the joyous moments in life and remember them always. I was afraid that I might not remember them if I did not immortalize them in pictures. With 2 small children, life was becoming a blur of beautiful activity that I needed to preserve forever….

Relishing: As my knowledge and skill has grown, not only am I capturing the memory but I am relishing the moment, the angle of the light, the exchange of glances, the magic of capturing a random touch, the wonder of nature and the wonder of just being. Capturing this for myself, my family and now also for clients is a miraculous feeling.

Rejoicing: All this has given me the freedom to rejoice in the self-expression and sense of fulfillment the art of photography has given me. I am rejoicing in a newfound connection to self and soul.

This all began years ago, inspired by tagging along after my aunt... continuing in high school, placed on hold while I attended college to train for my 'real' job, then rekindled as a mother and seasoned pharmacist. It has now grown into a satisfying, thriving business! I love portrait sessions and events of all kinds, my style is photo journalistic, and I love to capture those candid moments.
